Maor Greenberg: Building Anew

By James Florence, Diamond Certified Resource Reporter

PALO ALTO — After running a successful construction firm in his home country of Israel, Maor Greenberg moved to the United States, where he immediately set to work building a new enterprise. “I started my first construction company when I was 19 years old,” he recounts. “I come from a family of contractors, including my father, so I started when I was very young in the industry. In 2013, my wife and I decided to move to the United States, which is where she’s originally from. Shortly after we arrived, I got my contractor’s license and started a new company.”

Today, as the owner of Greenberg Construction, Maor says his favorite part of his job is the process of creation. “I love helping clients come up with concepts, designs, and making them a reality. I love the entire process, especially the end result.”

A resident of Belmont, Maor spends most of his time outside of work with his growing family. “My wife, Rotem, and I have a two-year-old son and another child on the way,” he says. “I work six days a week, so when Saturday rolls around, I love to just relax and spend time with my family. I also enjoy riding my motorcycle and watching and playing soccer.”

In regard to a professional philosophy, Maor espouses the importance of honesty. “We’re always upfront with our clients about the costs and timelines for their projects,” he explains. “Sometimes we lose projects because the truth scares people. When we say the project will cost a million dollars and other contractors say it’ll only cost $800,000, it’s understandable why a customer would go with the less expensive option. Unfortunately, the project usually ends up costing a million dollars, or more, because the other companies weren’t upfront about all the costs. So, we always like to be an honest company and present everything accurately in the first place.”

When asked about his long-term goals for Greenberg Construction, Maor says he looks forward to doing more artisan-style construction. “Our goal over the next few years is to expand the company by building spec houses, along with helping clients build their dream homes. And I am excited to bring in more unique design elements, including products from Europe that aren’t well-known over here.”
