I use them every two months, continuously, for gophers. They also spray around my house to get rid of the ants. They did exactly what I asked them to do, and they are so much better than Clark Pest Control.

Comparative Summary

Maintaining customer satisfaction is a crucial aspect of any business, but it’s even more important for pest control companies that have earned the prestigious Diamond Certified award. For All N One Pest Eliminators, the key to maintaining customer satisfaction is living up to its name on every job, regardless of its size. “We’re a genuine one-stop shop when it comes to pest control,” says owner Mario Martinez. “We provide a lot of services that other companies don’t, like attic cleanouts, where we get rid of rodent infestations and clean the mess they left behind. Because of this, our clients don’t have to call two or three different companies to get their needs met–we can take care of it all.”

All N One Pest Eliminators provides pest control services for residential and commercial clients in Alameda, Contra Costa, Solano, and Napa Counties. The company has the in-house capabilities to deal with everything from insects like cockroaches, bees and bedbugs to rodents like rats and gophers, and it also has the training and equipment to perform restoration and sanitation work on attics, basements, and crawlspaces that have recently experienced infestations.

Unlike less experienced pest control companies that don’t have the resources to provide urgent service, All N One Pest Eliminators makes itself available to quickly respond to clients who have immediate needs. “When a customer calls us with an urgent problem, we aren’t going to schedule them for later in the week–we’re going to take care of it right away,” says Mr. Martinez. “Our clients really appreciate our dedication to resolving their issues and ensuring their safety.”

Another distinguishing attribute of All N One Pest Eliminators is its proactive approach to following up with clients after their projects are complete. “Very few pest issues can be fixed in a single visit, which is why follow-up appointments are crucial,” says Mr. Martinez. “Some companies will come out once and never return, but we follow up with our clients to make sure their problems don’t resurface.”

Industry Info

Due to concerns about the declining honeybee population, it’s important to be conscientious when handling a bee infestation. Any pest control company can get rid of a beehive, but according to Mario Martinez, owner of All N One Pest Eliminators in Antioch, it’s a better idea to call a local beekeeper to do the job. However, even though a beekeeper will happily remove the hive in a safe, responsible way, there are limits to what they’re willing to do. “Depending on the circumstances, a beekeeper may decline a removal that involves substantial difficulty or limited access,” explains Mr. Martinez. In some cases, a beekeeper may be willing to do a difficult job (removing a hive in a chimney, for example) for a fee, but if not, you’ll need to call a pest control professional.

Employ effective preventative measures to keep squirrels out of your home.
Squirrels may be cute, but when they take up residence in your home, they can cause structural damage and other problems. Squirrels will chew through just about anything (including electrical wires) to find materials with which to build their nests. Not only can this cause your electrical system to malfunction, it can also create a fire hazard. Additionally, squirrels can create a health hazard by leaving behind urine and feces that harbor bacteria in the spaces they inhabit.

To effectively remove squirrels from a home, a pest control company must employ the right techniques. One common method is to locate and seal off vulnerable access points to your home so squirrels can’t gain entry. Since squirrels are able to chew through different types of materials, it’s important to use a strong substance like steel meshing to block entryways. Another way to keep squirrels out is to set up one-way exclusion door traps. Both of these methods represent humane, non-lethal ways to prevent squirrels from entering your home.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Will you treat the inside or the outside of my home?

A: It depends on the nature of the infestation, but whenever possible, we prefer to treat the exterior of the home. By reducing the population of pests outside, we can reduce the chances of them entering your home and causing problems.

Q: Will the treatment harm the plants around my home?

A: No. Even after direct contact, the product we apply won’t harm the soil, plants or lawn.

Q: Will the treatment last forever?

A: No. The treatment acts like a barrier surrounding your home, but the chemicals disappear over time. That’s why we have to come back periodically to reapply it.

Q: What kinds of rodents and wildlife do you deal with?

A: We remove bats, gophers, opossums, raccoons, squirrels, rats and pigeons.

Q: How effective are electrical pest control systems?

A: Ultrasonic devices have been tested by entomologists at major universities, and the results show they have little to no effect on insects and other pests. They don’t make the problem worse, but they don’t offer much of a benefit either, so we don’t recommend using them.

Mario Martinez: A Friendly Connection

By James Florence, Diamond Certified Resource Reporter

ANTIOCH — After 15 years in the pest control business, Mario Martinez traces his industry roots back to a friendly connection. “In 2000, a friend of mine got promoted to branch manager for a local pest control company, at which point he offered me a job,” he explains. “Prior to that, I had been working for a company that manufactured chemical landscaping products like liquid fertilizer and weed killer, so it sort of overlapped with pest control. My friend brought me on board and helped me get licensed. After about 10 years working with him, I started my own company, but we continue to be good friends today.”

Today, as owner of All N One Pest Eliminators, Mario says he appreciates the many opportunities his job affords him to help others. “Few pest control companies offer all the services a customer might need, so I like being able to provide a broad range of solutions. Also, as the company has grown, I’ve been able to provide employment for many people, including members of my family, which feels really good.”

A longtime East Bay resident (where he lives with his wife, Kristy, and their two children), Mario expresses his appreciation for the temperate local climate. “Great weather—that’s what I love about working in the Bay Area,” he says. “My job requires me to work outside most of the time, so the nice weather really makes it a pleasure.”

Outside of work, Mario’s favorite pastime is exploring the diverse Bay Area landscape. “My job keeps me pretty busy, but when I get a chance, I like to get away with my family,” he says. “One of our favorite activities is going camping, fishing and jet skiing at local lakes like East Park Reservoir. We just like seeing different places and enjoying everything the Bay Area has to offer.” However, as much as he loves being out and about, Mario also enjoys relaxing at home and watching TV, movies, and sports.

In his life and career, Mario espouses the centrality of honesty. “Honesty is the most important thing,” he affirms. “For example, if we find ourselves in a situation where we aren’t able to help a customer, it’s on us to be upfront and let them know rather than just save face. Even in such instances, which are pretty rare, customers appreciate being told the truth and being treated in a respectful way.”

When asked the first thing he’d do if he were to retire tomorrow, Mario says he’d take a trip. “My wife and I really enjoy traveling, so I’d probably plan a vacation. There are plenty of places we’d like to see and experience, so that would give us an opportunity to do so.”

Ask Me Anything!

Q: Are you a dog person or a cat person?
A: Definitely a dog person. We have two dogs: a miniature chihuahua and a pit bull.

Q: What’s your favorite thing to do on a rainy day?
A: Stay home, order a pizza and watch a movie.

Q: What do you like on your pizza?
A: Pesto, white garlic sauce, artichokes, bacon and chicken.

Q: What’s your favorite holiday?
A: It’s a tie between Thanksgiving and Christmas—everybody gets together and it’s a great family time.

Q: What was your favorite toy as a child?
A: My WWF action figures. I used to have a bunch of them, including Hulk Hogan and Rowdy Roddy Piper, and always had a blast playing with them.

  • Keeping Rodents Out of the Home

ANTIOCH — Do you have a rodent problem in your home? Have traps and similar appliances failed to provide a permanent solution? It may be because you haven’t done anything to stop rodents from accessing your home in the first place. You can set up all the traps you want, but if you don’t block the entry points rodents use to get into your home, you’ll only continue to have problems.

The most common way rodents get into homes is through small, unnoticed openings. These include eave gaps, crawl space vents at ground level, entry holes for pipes or electrical wires, fascia boards, roof joints and loose siding. It’s important to understand that even a quarter-sized hole in your home exterior can allow a rat or mouse to enter. That’s why the first step in keeping rodents out is to identify and seal all potential entry points to your home.

While sealing up entry points will help prevent rodent intrusion, keep in mind that these points must be continually reinspected after the fact. As foam and other sealing agents age, they can cease to be effective as barriers against rodents. Plus, if rodents are actively chewing or clawing on them, they can fail a lot sooner. That’s why it’s important to regularly revisit sealed areas to check the condition of the sealant and reapply as needed.

  • How to Combat a Rodent Infestation

ANTIOCH — There are a couple of ways to combat a rodent infestation, but in order to ensure both safety and effectiveness, it’s necessary to have an understanding of correct application techniques.

One popular option for combating a rodent infestation is to use poison, which, while often effective, has at least one substantial downside. Since a rodent continues to be mobile after ingesting poison, when it finally does expire, it could be anywhere in or around your home, resulting in a foul smell from an undetectable carcass. Also, keep in mind that poison can kill secondary animals if proper precautions aren’t taken.

Due to these risks, it’s critical to apply poison in a safe manner. The best technique is to place the poison in a lockbox specifically designed for pest control application, which will keep pets and other animals out while maintaining access for rodents. However, since rodents are still free to roam after ingesting the poison, these boxes are best used outside the home to avoid the aforementioned carcass recovery issues.

The other common option for combating a rodent infestation is to use conventional snap traps. Snap traps have been around a long time and are still the most effective way to kill and dispose of rodents. However, like poison, traps can be dangerous for children and pets (not to mention yourself), so be sure to place them in areas where they can’t be easily accessed, whether up out of reach or in a secure box.

If you’re not having any luck resolving your rodent problem independently, consider calling a professional pest control company. An experienced technician will perform an inspection of your home and let you know the best way to get the issue under control.

ANTIOCH — Host, Sarah Rutan: If you have a rodent problem in your home, you’ll want to combat it in a way that’s both safe and effective. Today we’re in Antioch with Diamond Certified Expert Contributor Mario Martinez of All N One Pest Eliminators to learn more.

Diamond Certified Expert Contributor, Mario Martinez: Here at All N One Pest Eliminators, we get a lot of rodent calls. We get a lot of customers that call in because they have a rodent problem and they ended up putting poison out, and now they have a really bad smell.

If you’re having a rodent problem, the best thing to do is call a professional. Let them come out, do an inspection of your home, and let you know how we can get this problem under control. If you are going to use poisons and try to do things yourself, please keep in mind that poison does kill secondary animals. If you don’t put the poison out right, we could have a problem in the future.

The best way to use poison, if you’re going to use it outside, is in a secure box just like this. It takes a special key in order to open it. When you do open it, there’s the bait, right inside there. It’s locked on, so it can’t come off. The only ones that can get into this box is an animal that is about that size, which is usually about the size of a rat or a mouse.

And if you do want to use something inside to try to take care of the problem with the rodents, the best thing to use is the old fashion snap trap. It’s been around a long time, and it still works. That way, you can catch the rodent and you can throw it away before it stinks. And that’s my tip of the day.

ANTIOCH — Host, Sarah Rutan: When it comes to keeping rodents out of the home, step one is to identify and seal off potential entry points. To learn more, we’re in Antioch with Angel Stanley of All N One Pest Eliminators, speaking on behalf of Diamond Certified Expert Contributor Mario Martinez.

Angel Stanley: When inspecting your home, you always want to look around for open areas like maybe in your vents, sometimes down in the low foundation. You might have some cracks that obviously rodents can get into. And if you look right here, you can also see that this foam sealant is starting to get old. Rodents can also chew on that and re-enter in this point. Even though you’ve had some rodent, um, exclusion work done in the previous years, you might want to check some of that areas. It does tend to wear down over the times.
