When it comes to maintaining your house’s air ducts, you should focus on achieving two goals: limiting the amount of foreign particles (dust, pollen, pet dander, insects) and preventing moisture (which will reduce mold and bacteria growth). To ensure your air ducts are operating as effectively as possible, consider the following tips:
Limiting foreign particles
Change your air filter on a regular basis. Frequency depends on several variables, including the area in which you live, how often you run your system and whether you have pets. Ask your professional HVAC technician about the manufacturer recommendations for efficient air filtration.
• If your HVAC system uses more than one filter, make sure they’re all properly in place so air can’t get around them.
• Have a professional HVAC technician clean your system’s drain pan and cooling coils.
• Vacuum and dust your home on a regular basis. If possible, use a high-efficiency (HEPA) vacuum with a high-quality filter.
Preventing moisture
• If you find any water leaks or damage, call an HVAC technician as soon as possible.
• Inspect your system’s drain pan on a regular basis. Drain pans should drain completely, so if you notice standing water, it could be an indication of a major problem. Make sure the drain pan is completely free of debris before calling an HVAC technician.
• If your house has air ducts in areas that aren’t air conditioned (attics, crawl spaces, garages), make sure they’re sealed and insulated—this will help reduce condensation by lowering the temperature difference between the air in the ducts and the air directly next to the ducts.

A: We can be onsite within 24 hours of your call, and in most cases, we can come the same day. We can even arrange evening appointments if that’s better for your schedule.

A: No. In order to give an accurate estimate, we really need to see the problem and determine the type of system that needs to be installed. There are just too many variables in HVAC work to give an estimate without performing an inspection.

Q: Do you give free estimates?

A: Yes. We’ll provide an in-home inspection and estimate by a trained consultant at no cost. We’ll also give you a range of options so you can choose a system that works best for your specific situation.

Q: How long will it take to clean the air ducts in my house?

A: It depends on the size of your house. For a fairly small house with seven to 10 vents, we can usually get the job done in two and a half hours. For a bigger house, it could take all day.
